Wes “Maestro” Williams is the godfather of Canadian hip-hop, the artist who kicked the door open with “Let Your Backbone Slide” and has been a staple of this country’s music ever since. The day Canada Post made it official, putting his name on a national stamp alongside Michie Mee’s, was a genuine honour to be in the room for. We were there to do the moment justice: to hold Maestro and the artwork clean under hard stage light, and to come away with frames that carry the weight of a milestone this rare.
