Young Maestro Goes to School
A picture-book signing held in the concourse of Scarborough Town Centre, the mall whose floor carries the Scarborough Walk of Fame, and one of whose brass stars is lettered Wes “Maestro” Williams. The day ran as a queue: a stage programme, then hours of people coming to the table one at a time. Mall light is the hardest kind, daylight from a skylight mixing with warm store lighting, a printed backdrop that flares, and no way to add any of your own without becoming the event. So it was shot to keep faces true and let the backdrop fall where it fell.
