A one-venue, one-afternoon assignment: a Canadian football stadium turned over to a rally. Hazy white sky, hard overhead light, a stage at one end and a steel barricade running the length of the turf, every attendee on one side of it, everyone being photographed on the other. The photographer worked that line for range: fisheye for the bowl, longer glass for the stage, short lenses for the faces packed three deep at the rail, then followed the day indoors to a press room.

The barricade was the story; the stadium was scale.
