Across the later days of the conference, three rooms with nothing in common: a daylit concourse, a windowless exhibit hall under flat fluorescent light, and a dim ballroom lit only by stage wash and screens. Exhibitors needed booth coverage, posed, lit, legible. The story needed the competition floor, where crews in helmets work against the clock and no two runs look alike. The job was moving between them fast enough to hold both, and staying long enough for faces.

The best pictures were the ones wearing hard hats.
